The Pittsburgh Steelers have historically been a defensive team.
Dating back to the Steel Curtain days and whatnot, the franchise has always taken pride in playing physical football and getting stops.
That continues to be the case, and Los Angeles Rams star WR Cooper Kupp seems to be one of their favorite victims.
As pointed out by PFF Pittsburgh Steelers, the Triple Crown winner has struggled in his matchups with Mike Tomlin’s team.
He was held without a catch on four targets in 2019, and had just two receptions on six targets for 29 yards on Sunday’s game.
Cooper Kupp against the Steelers:
2019: 4 targets, 0 receptions
2023: 6 targets, 2 receptions, 29 yards👏

Kupp has established himself as Matthew Stafford’s favorite target since the former No. 1 pick was traded to the Rams, and he had one of the most proficient seasons in NFL history just two years ago.
Even if he’s coming off an injury-riddled campaign and couldn’t start the season on the field this year ago either, Kupp is still one of the best wideouts in the game and one that’s capable of putting up big numbers on any given week, so props to their defense for locking him up.
The Steelers were a three-point road underdog ahead of their clash at SoFi Stadium, making it the second consecutive win in which they’ve won games as an underdog, and the third overall this season.
Sitting on a 4-2 record, this team currently is in second place in the AFC North thanks to that stout defense and some elite coaching, proving that they can never be counted out, especially when put against the wall.
