Pittsburgh Steelers young star George Pickens is giving a lot to talk about, and that’s not always a good thing.
Pickens is obviously quite talented, and he’s emerged as the team’s best pass-catcher, even ahead of Diontae Johnson.
That’s why it’s understandable to see that he’s grown frustrated with his team’s lack of offensive success, and he wants to be way more involved in the passing game.
With that in mind, former NFL wide receiver Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson urged him to make the most of every single opportunity he gets.
In his latest talk with Shannon Sharpe, Chad stated that Pickens was “easily top five in the league” if the Steelers can use him right, but with Kenny Pickett’s inconsistent play, he needs to make sure to make the most of every catch (via Steelers Depot on Twitter).
Chad Johnson to George Pickens on Nightcap: "George Pickens, you are one of the best, easily top five in the league, if they can use you right, but when your opportunities come to you, baby, I love you, you gotta make the most of them. Truth be told, it’s easy to see why anyone would be frustrated with Matt Canada’s offense and Kenny Pickett’s ups and downs.
Then again, we’re talking about a second-year player who has yet to prove himself in the league.
Yes, Pickens has shown glimpses of greatness, and there’s no reason to believe he cannot become a superstar and one of the new faces of the NFL.
But every player needs to earn his stripes, and he needs to focus on putting in numbers before calling out his team on social media and whatnot.
The Steelers are 5-3 and continue to find ways to win games, so he needs to do his job and what’s best for the team, even if it’s not what’s best for him right now.
