The Pittsburgh Steelers fired Matt Canada in a somewhat unprecedented move.
It was the first time since 1941 that the team has decided to make an in-season change to its coaching staff, so it speaks volumes of their level of concern and frustration right now.
Mike Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the game, and they have one of the best defenses in the league by a significant margin.
They would be legitimate Super Bowl contenders with a somewhat decent offense, and while Canada’s scheme and play-calling weren’t exactly innovative, some believe their offensive issues run deeper.
That seems to be the case with Craig Carton and former Steeler Willie Colon.
"What's tough about this situation is, the Steelers don't have an answer. Kenny Pickett really is the problem."

In the latest edition of “The Carton Show,” they argued that, while Canada didn’t do a good job in charge of the offense, he couldn’t be blamed for Kenny Pickett’s shortcomings.
Canada failed to develop Pickett and take them to where most people thought — or expected — he’d be at this point in his young career.
Thus, he ended up being the fall guy, as the Steelers couldn’t fire Pickett right now.
Truth be told, few quarterbacks are under more pressure than Pickett at this moment.
All eyes will be set on him until the end of the season, and while the team and Tomlin have had his back over and over, it’s now more than clear the team is tired of waiting for something to happen.
They believe they can compete, and they want him to be better now.
