Recently, former star running back Le’Veon Bell made all the headlines as he talked about his desire to come back with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With that in mind, star DT Cameron Heyward talked about how that wasn’t anything new for him, as he had already said he would only come back with the Steelers when he made an appearance on his show (via Not Just Football with Cam Heyward on YouTube).
Heyward claimed that he would welcome anybody with open arms, and while he knows they do have some solid running backs like Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, he’d be open to a reunion with Bell.
Notably, Bell’s stint in Pittsburgh didn’t end well at all.
He set a strong precedent by deciding to hold out for the entire 2018 NFL season as he looked to get a better contract.
His production took a massive dip ever since, as he went on to play for the New York Jets before having brief stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore Ravens, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He’s been out of the league since 2021, but it’s not like he hasn’t stayed in shape, as he has pursued a career in boxing ever since.
It’s hard to envision the organization burying the hatchet with Bell and just giving him another chance after everything that transpired during the negotiations and in the aftermath, and his ability to make an impact on the field could be put in question.
Then again, this offense needs veterans and leaders to hold the youngins accountable, and he checks those boxes.
