With the Pittsburgh Steelers focusing on the future, the present and the past might not be their top priority right now.
That’s why some fans are worried about what could happen with Cam Heyward.
The veteran defensive tackle is reportedly considering retirement, which is no surprise at this point in his career.
He’s going to be 35 years old soon and has been in the league for 13 seasons now, and it’s not like he hasn’t found success in the league.
Nonetheless, it seems like he could consider staying on the field, assuming the team is willing to meet his asking price.
He recently took to Twitter to share a cryptic tweet involving a clip from the popular TV show Billions, making it seem like he’s not close to signing a contract extension right now.

Heyward is set to make a lot of money in 2024.
His total cash value sits at $16 million, according to Spotrac.
His cap hit of $22.5 million is roughly ten percent of the team’s total cap space, being the second-highest-paid player on the team after T.J. Watt.
Playing for another franchise is out of the question for the Steelers legend, so it’ll be interesting to see how the team deals with this delicate situation and whether he’s willing to give them a hometown discount to stay there for the future.
