The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t been a legitimate Super Bowl contender for quite a while now.
However, Mike Tomlin continues to keep his non-losing season streak alive regardless of how much talent he has on the team — or not.
That’s why veteran DT Cam Heyward is still optimistic about the future of the organization.
Recently, the future Steelers Hall of Famer stated that he believes this group can build something special together (via All City NFL on Twitter).

Of course, it might start with him staying with the team — or not.
He’s reportedly looking to get a big contract extension, something that the team might not want to do at this point in his career, especially coming off an injury-riddled season.
Losing him would obviously be a big hit both on the field and in the locker room.
Then again, this team’s defense has more than enough resources to be among the league’s finest, starting for the coach.
Truth be told, it seems like this team is only a competent quarterback from being able to compete at the highest level, and that should be the point of emphasis in the offseason.
Whether they look to trade up to get a franchise-caliber quarterback in the NFL Draft or look to make a splash for Justin Fields, this team needs to get better at the most crucial position in the game, and the rest will just figure itself out.
The Steelers aren’t that far behind, but you just cannot win without a franchise-caliber quarterback in this pass-happy era.
