The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been a defensive-minded squad, and Mike Tomlin is a defensive-minded guy as well.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that the veteran coach is already working his magic with one of the most promising defensive prospects currently practicing ahead of the Senior Bowl.
According to a report by Dane Brugler, Tomlin has been spotted chatting with Ohio State DT Michael Hall Jr. multiple times, and he’s been quite active watching some DL drills.
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin is locked in on these DL drills, specifically DT Michael Hall.
He’s chatted Hall up after each rep.

There was plenty of buzz surrounding the young tackle ahead of these practices, and it seems like he’s already exceeding expectations.
The interior defensive lineman is making the most of the chance to showcase his skills, and the early returns have been quite encouraging.
His numbers as a redshirt sophomore weren’t exactly impressive, logging just 24 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks, falling from his 7.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks as a part-time player in the prior campaign.
He’s also a bit of a tweener for his position, weighing in at just 280 pounds, but he’s a gifted athlete with a long wingspan and an impressive feel for the game.
Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the league, and he sure knows a thing or two about developing young defensive players.
So even though most fans would rather see the team making strides on the offensive side of the field, don’t be shocked if they fall in love with the prospect of adding even more firepower to that defensive line.
