The Pittsburgh Steelers have had some serious issues on offense this season, and while some of them have been due to poor play design or play-calling, others have been due to an evident lack of effort.
With that in mind, NFL analyst Kyle Long ripped WR George Pickens for not even attempting to block for the running back, especially considering it leads to failed offensive drives with no points scored (via Blitzburgh on Twitter).
Chris Long on George Pickens effort: “When you don't finish your block & the running back gets tackled and your team subsequently does not score a TD, I take issue with it. You know what else, the guys in that locker room should, and they haven't.” #Steelers #NFL

Long also believes that his teammates should also take offense at Pickens’ lack of effort, calling them out for not doing so.
Truth be told, that only proves that Ben Roethlisberger might not be so wrong with his recent comments about the team’s mindset and current culture.
Big Ben questioned the team’s offense for not having someone who could step up, grab someone by the face mask, hold him accountable, and make him play up to the standards that come with donning the black and gold jersey.
Pickens has made the headlines for the wrong reasons more often than not, constantly complaining about his lack of involvement in the passing game and stating that he cannot be efficient unless he’s given the ball in long routes and on the open field.
As incredibly gifted and evidently impactful as he is, he’s just a second-year player who has yet to earn his stripes in the league, and all details and little things matter when you try to play winning football, it’s not just about having 50+ yard receptions on every single dropback.
